It seems WoTc has made what in outside “Crazy clown world” would be a sensible if pathetic response to microscopic criticism… They put a form disclaimer on older products that some people claiming to have connections to ‘ethnic’ groups might have problems with… This is on their products from the 80s and early 90s – Starting with Oriental Adventures, it seems going on to other products meant to include historical groups in some form into Dungeons and Dragons – such as the “Al Qadim” setting more of “Arabian Nights stories meet D&D vs real history”..

And did THAT appease the haters? (oh, they’d call themselves “Counter-Haters” or “Hater Hater”?) Trying to be polite here – I am SO tempted to switch R’s and L’s – this IS privately hosted I could make this vicious and racist for insult purposes, btw.

Not about Streisand, look that the fuck up. Rather there’s online sharing and USENET which unlike torrents is near untraceable for downloads. It was the “File sharing nightmare” pre-napster and used Napster to hide sharing about everything else. In the late 90s and 00s about EVERY major text was HAND scanned and uploaded to USENET (Newsgroups) in alt.binaries… You could find ALL the porno pics from Penthouse, Hustler, Playboy – sometimes entire magazines scanned cover to cover. Through MAME you could have what would have been a lottery winner’s path back to rags – EVERY arcade game of the past – but right at your fingertips…and the ROM’s came from… Lots of starving students were able to find that expensive, bland, dumb but can’t pass the class without “Textbook” even brand NEW ones… Classic science fiction books of the 50s stopped being $300 scalper’s dreams (not that the author got a dime) and went for sensible amounts on ebay once people scanned books – they even worked out automated ways to do it. Comic book guy jumped out the window since you could read ALL the classics – way before “Comixology” and for NOTHING.

And I’m only scratching the surface but last and least – yes virtually ALL the RPGs especially the classics of the 70s, 80s were scanned and made available…

It’s really just a moral thing that ANYONE buys from WoTc or whatever company claims to own the old TSR properties. Altering stuff -even a stupid disclaimer- to appease whiners HURTS this. And yes, I DO realize people could steal and post MY stuff also. I call on people to support what they like. Behemoth companies chewing up and regurgitating the works of authors long past or hiding stuff not ‘politically correct’ in say a ‘vault’ is one of the best arguments to digitally steal everything.

IF they removed all these old products they’d just encourage more disgruntled EX-customers to ONLY use old TSR products and avoid NEW stuff – a lot do already. Dozens of ways to share it. And beyond rejecting revenue it’d be something an investor could SUE over – not making a profit when they could have. Or – if ‘privately’ owned the next time they go bankrupt and get bought by someone else this would be used as an excuse to just rip the property from them and kick them out the back door to meet the bums, no severance, buy-out or new ‘job’…

So, really what COULD they do?

IMO if they blocked the thing – on top of earlier consequences – and spent a BUTT-load of MONEY hiring dozens of full time internet patrollers to file DMCAs to make it slightly harder to get the traded old copies… the haters the “Oh… they OFFENDED me because I’m ASIAN…!” CryBullies would still shriek at them – probably wanting a ‘consulting’ job where they get a full salary to sit around all day and maybe make an RPG that’s “Correct” – that IMO if they managed to finish a product would end up being bashed as poorly researched and just as or MORE stereotyped than the classic.

And for doing that – would it help?
Would “Asians” run out to buy and play D&D and “Oriental Adventures 3.0” if made “Correct”?

TSR’s worldbooks were carefully researched and already were attempting to be more culturally sensitive. The “Oriental Adventures” were made to be more realistic and respectful to people who’d been raised on Fu Manchu, Hong Kong Fuey, Bruce Lee movies and the song “Kung Fu Fightin’”… It was a wild success and IMO actually helped reduce American against Asian racism when the media was FULL of “The Japanese R buyin Everythin’!!!” I saw lots of kids go wild for this – and read other books about the Orient wanting to learn more. While someone looking for ANY fault certainly could find one I could not imagine a more forward, progressive work for the times…

80s popular “Racism” though IMO if it was France they’d have whined as loud… “The Japanese are Buyin’ Everything!” – the Yellow Peril returned in the form of Japan’s success as America started a decline people could feel, deficit financed boom or no – even though China was the growing place that factory got sent to even then…

And they bent over forwards and backwards to try to NOT be hurtful to other races and cultures- despite the fact that then their ONLY customers were WHITE, Middle to lower upper High class MALES… 99% range. When the mass media still had most of the old-school sentiments only slowly removing the worst; Blood Libel against Jews and “Filed Teeth Jungle Cannibals” for Blacks.

Again my favorite was “Al Qadim” which was more an attempt to bring “Arabian Nights” to D&D rather than historical middle east culture. Note the term “Arabasque”? That’s a fantasy set in another land, another time – something said stories did – Aladdin was set in CHINA doubtless told by people who’d only loosely heard of China for one small example…

But they went nuts to be NOT offensive to Muslims – made up a “Loregiver” faith that was 90% Islam – but didn’t want kids/young adults going “In the name of Allah I tell this tale for there is no G-d but —– and M….. is his Prophet!” (say that full statement 3x if an adult in front of adults LEGALLY you convert to Islam! – hint; Don’t unless you legit want to convert, mmkay?)

They made a truly wonderful work – at the time the ONLY Muslims 99.9% of Americans knew of were the terrorists on the news, the billionaire Oil Shayks of bad (as in GOOD) exploitation movies and those crumbling “Men’s Adventure” magazines that were on the counter of the old Pole barber your Grandpa dragged you to to get rid of the “Hippie” haircut your parents let you grow…

At the time D&D did Al Qadim and Oriental Adventures stuff like THIS was still on the shelves and coffetables, library – about the East, Orient, etc.

All this pandering again only hurt – or was a LOT of effort for ZERO help – but they did it anyways. Because – legit – they were progressive, forward thinking, liberal – before modern “Woke” culture insulted and turned it to extremism. But there was NO rush to buy/play the game amongst Asian peoples in the USA or abroad, or Middle Easter people…most had 1001 other things to do that sit and play an RPG. They only could consider it lucky they did NOT have a backlash amongst their fans, their ONLY customer base.

And look at the thanks they get now for CUCKING to modern Social Justice WHINERs – they alienate the customer base – risk a mass return to online sharing and people NOT buying their products – and the “Social Justice Warriors” just HATE them even more.

Here’s a hint (to WoTC, GDW, etc…all these big gaming companies virtue signalling) – REMOVE the ‘trigger’ warning. Tell the so-called ‘pressure’ groups to stay away, that they’d have to BUY the content in sufficient quantities to be considered a customer group and otherwise could face stalking charges but will be ignored further – at least.

AND – KNOW your legit customer base – if you expand your customers, good, but don’t alienate core customers. Plenty of OSR (and internet file sharing) you could be replaced .
Social Justice Warriors are NOT customers – not now, not later, won’t be any help – only will be a leech, a source of complaints and demands that fulfilling leads only to more demands and any plea for support apathy or cruel mockery.

The first thing – be active

Say a LETTER – yes “Snail Mail” – polite, concise, to the point – sign and date. Demand the games be first for straight white males (or straight males) – the traditional default. This is the group that PAYS for them, that buys piles of games, RPGS, Anime tapes, Comic books, Video Games. The “Other” groups rarely do this – and never in quantity, never in high volume.

Don’t laugh at writing a letter – it is how “Social Justice Warriors” and “Nucking Futz Fundies” have so much F-ing power. They make a big stink but with that pile of letters a company might legit think they need to cater to customers or expand to a new customer base. Unlike said groups, and an old joke William Shatner did on Saturday Night Live we do have LIVES so this is an effort. But really, type a little, sign it, buy a few stamps – that’s not too much to ask. It makes it clear to these companies that if they go the “Social Justice Way” they’d better have their salaries paid by someone else, not “RPG Geeks”….

Another aspect of being active is to spread the word – such as making sure to communicate to Japanese (anime, some RPG and lots of Manga) that our “Social Justice Warriors” are a level of human LOWER than their “NEET” and I apologize to the latter for even the loose comparison. If you like old school D&D maybe you could only get old stuff. I don’t want to directly support “File Sharing” though I have to realize that it will be done. Better you spend $ on newer game systems (and comic books, non-compliant Anime companies, Video Games with boobies) so you support current people. The D&D people of the 80s are about all retired/dead – so buying the product from the current WoTC is just spending $ on a big Kaijiru made of toxic waste chewing up and SHITTING it out again and again – they care NOTHING for who they devour just profiting off of them – “One Man’s Opinion”

Lots of games out there and you can play them however you FUCKING like. Just careful on what companies you support – support those that UN-Virtue signal. Not that we necessarily want to support open racism, sexism… Really, most RPGs/Players are progressive and a bit leftist. G-d help me I’m a bit left myself. Just we aren’t in “Crazy Clown World” where it’s the worst of Nihilism masked in a cartoonish fake idealism taken to the extreme. Most of the Damage comes from the TOP – the SJW infiltrates at the top and/or appeals to authority – they learn that from their smothering “Karen” parents. Most of them you’ll deal with will be those trying to ruin the company. The best offense is to spread the word and make it clear that if they change the company to cater to a few complainers – they had better get BIG $ from complainers – because they won’t get YOURS. You’ll spread the word amongst the community, petitions, to advertisers – so they only have the “Social Justice Warriors” as a customer base.

Hint; BAD customer base – usually poor despite starting upper middle class – $100K in student debt for “Gender Studies” degree and $ from parents spent on sh-t charities and/or legal expenses from fashionably radical actions.

Bonus – the MeatGrinder adventure!

Generally the best fix for any problem is to prevent said problem from occuring. Gatekeep them out. However since SJWs trying to get into RPGs as “Cheap Therapy”…

However: The reason they are so spoiled is that they have “Karen” parents who often can get stuff done. Especially if you play in a semi-public space – the comic store on weekends, the library, some corner of the university, part of the nearly empty mall… So if you just go “Get AWAY Snowflake – really, it should be good WE have someone we can look down upon and laugh at – but its NOT…” sometimes their parents can threaten this third space access.

Thus, I propose a “MeatGrinder” as a backup to kick out the legit Snowflakes but maybe put perspective to a borderline one they are trying to convert.

Dungeon Crawl Classics – best easily available (digital download) “Meat Grinder” with no mercy commercially available but you can make your own up…!

The “MeatGrinder” is simple:

A – you start a NEW campaign. (so you don’t fuck up your existing one – nice breath of fresh air)

B – Each Player gets THREE – Zero level RPG characters. NO they don’t control anything about them – roll them up from random tables and maybe ONE “Dump” die – no play where every character has 15 (out of D20) stats for everything…

B – (Continued) Bonus points make up horrible flaws that relate loosely to the usual traumas, mental illnesses, neuroses that “Snowflakes” wear as badges of honor as long as they are coddled and praised for it. Like a dyslexic character who can’t read but is immune from Rune symbols and other types of magic.

C – the scores are for “Role-Playing” and survival. If ONE character (or more) gets through they get to stay in the group. They get judged based on how they play the character – a disfigured jester is going to distract the guard while the other rogue slits his throat, not try to cast Prismatic Spray which he doesn’t have. So they have to PRETEND they are characters other than some idealized version of themselves, what those characters would think and how to do stuff… You know “ROLE-Playing!?”

D – the dungeon is full of death traps – but those RPG players legit can avoid. You know – there’s a mouth of pure blackness the torch doesn’t penetrate. Someone’s got a 10 foot pole – or there’s a stick, bones on the floor – something other than sticking your HAND into it… No need to get out “Grimtooth” but really a trap does need some kind of warning/hidden trigger since it’s in an enclosed location so if the person who built it/had it installed got next to it they’d be vulnerable to it – so there should be something in the description or answers to questions players ask that will reveal it. This is to be FUN for real legit RPG players but instant death by STUPID for SJW snowflakes.

And watch the mayhem – I’ll cite Jason Thompson’s WONDERFUL maps that espouse play of classic adventures… And all the stupids based on what real RPG players do. Really, it’d be funny running them through it and regular players setting back to do the same. The SJW snowflake sent as cheap therapy…

Cruel – but you aren’t wasting your real PCs – just putting them through a legit GrimDark campaign. If the character is borderline but could be functional this will be the BEST thing he’s encountered… I say “He” because the only salvageable types will be likely White Males raised on a bit too much Soy – most of the rest will freak out during the creation process -not starting out with a 17th level cleric and being able to have lists of “Trigger” warnings then going on a crying fit when they have them jump into a pit that is (duh!) full of SPIKES not treasure… Since it won’t be your regular PCs characters getting wasted they’ll have all kinds of FUN playing hunchbacked sorcereors with fire/diablost boost but no ressurection – seductresses, metahuman/abhuman monstrosities and thinking up how (with their limits) they scrape by death traps and get out of situations where just fighting they die. The Snowflakes will freak out – but see everyone else having fun and not at their expense and not be able to face it, as they can’t face life.

Again – better to just kick them out – remember the “Steam Tunnels” incident and the horrible movie (with one good phrase) that it inspired? But if you have to it’s better if they run away early on so any connection when they legit kill themselves will be years later and like the ST incident only the loosest connection to the game.

Beats being forced to resurrect the 17th level Cleric EACH adventure and edit out the “Spider Queen” because he’s afraid of spiders…

Uh, he GAINS 100 Gold and a jeweled ring…uh you were right all those shiny glittering things were coins the undead lich miser just left lying in his tomb – not expecting anyone to get this far… Then, whispered when he goes to inject some more anti-psychotic meds… – “come ON we don’t want to resurrect him AGAIN… Look his Mom was shouting at the Dean yesterday – despite I heard she told him NOT to play this game…”

Then they wear a Halloween costume and cut their wrists in the dorm room for their latest cry for help anyways – BUT their roommate had a sex date and went ELSEWHERE so they didn’t Fuck block with their usual whiny neurotic voice or be clopping to Pon when he opened the door with his date – and they are lying dead in that costume and the SWAT team kicks down your door, shoots your pet dog “Robocop” style along with the “Trained Attack Goldfish” and you are up 48 hours handcuffed to a chair, refused a lawyer or going to a bathroom because they want to terrify you into confessing to be part of a “Satanic Cult” revolving around RPGs – double plus if after 24 hours they are sure you are innocent but don’t want legal hassles later…

“The scariest monsters are in the mind…” -until that is you have to deal with a pathetic waste of life “Precious Individual SNOWFLAKE” that’s a psychic vampire needing constant praise but then you get blamed when he/she/whatever kills ITself or goes missing or “Remembers” another faggot butt rape in ‘recovered memory’ therapy and despite it being debunked you get the SWAT team kicking down your door for it…even YEARS later…!
